Realme X7 Max review: Reliable performer, but do you have to consider?

The Realme X7 Max may be a reliable performer and users can purchase it if solid performance is what they're after.

Realme has launched yet one more 5G phone in India, Realme X7 Max. it's a neighborhood of the fairly new Realme X7 series and comes with a more powerful Mediatek chipset. It’s rising against phones just like the OnePlus Nord, Samsung Galaxy A52, and Mi 11X. The mid-range segment is already crowded with good options, and this is often getting to be a troublesome fight for Realme. Read our detailed review to understand more about the new 5G phone.

Realme X7 Max review: Design, build

The Realme X7 Max doesn’t dazzle you with its design and it's almost like other phones within the Realme X7 series. The smartphone’s frame and back panel are made out of plastic. The build quality isn’t as solid because the X7 Pro and therefore the back panel also features a little bit of flex thereto , which is surprising considering this is often a mid-range phone.

The device is sort of lightweight and cozy to carry in one hand. It features a matte textured finish, which offers a more solid grip on the phone, even with slightly greasy or wet hands. The glossy stripe tends to retain smudges and fingerprints.

Realme finally decided to get rid of the massive and flashy “Dare to Leap” logo. But, it's not completely gone and you'll now see it during a smaller version on the lower side of the phone. the brand isn't as prominent, but when the sunshine hits the rear panel from different angles, it somewhat gleams. you'll need to use a case if you would like a neat rear panel with no logo.

Realme is offering the phone in either black or silver variants. there's a Milky Way colour also , which you'll consider if you would like a more flashy look. those that prefer wired earphones are going to be happy to understand that the headphone jack is there at rock bottom because it was missing on the X7 Pro model. the general feel of the phone is simply fine and not very premium. But, the addition of the IPX4 rating may be a welcome improvement.

You get a rather smaller 6.43-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED punch-hole display. The screen bezels seem reasonably thin, but the device features a large chin at rock bottom , compared to the Realme X7 Pro. The display has good colour accuracy, pixel-dense and viewing angles. I loved binge-watching on this device. The display supports HDR 10+, Widevine L1 and may get as bright as 1,000nits at peak brightness. However, content on the screen isn't so legible in harsh sunlight.

Realme hasn’t mentioned if the device is using any grade of Corning Gorilla Glass to guard the display. By default, the high refresh rate option works dynamically and it switches automatically between 60Hz and 120Hz counting on the content.

Realme X7 Max review: Performance, Camera

The Realme X7 Max is powered by MediaTek’s flagship Dimensity 1200 processor. The smartphone can handle every task with ease; multitasking may be a breeze and there have been no signs of stutters or slow performance.

I played games like Call of Duty, Asphalt 9, and Genshin Impact, among others. During my usage, I didn’t encounter any frame drop or laggy performance. The device’s panel supports 120Hz and 360Hz touch rate . This did make the gameplay feel very smooth. However, not every game supports high refresh rate.

Call of Duty ran at high settings (graphics and frame rate), and Genshin Impact was by default 30fps and medium settings. Maxing out the settings did end in battery drain and laggy performance. there's a 4D vibration feature, which doesn’t support tons of games (including Call of Duty), so there's no point in having it. the sport assistant may be a bit annoying because it forces you to see it whenever you open any game.

The device has Stereo speakers with support for Dolby Atmos, which made the content more enjoyable. After nearly two hours of gaming, the device’s back panel got pretty warm. Users should avoid playing games when the device is on charge.

The battery of the Realme X7 Max lasted at some point , but results may vary counting on your usage pattern. My usage consisted of social networking, a couple of hours of YouTube, and an hour approximately of gaming. I liked the very fact that Realme ships a 50W charger within the box as you'll rarely catch on with other mid-range phones. The fast charger can top up the phone’s battery in about 45 minutes. The X7 Max features a 4,500mAh battery.

The new Realme X7 series phone offered ok shots in most scenarios. initially glance, the pictures may look attractive, but upon closer inspection, the colors in some photos were either oversaturated or accurate (enough). In a number of the daylight shots, there's a substantial amount of noise and over softening present, which is noticeable once you check out them very closely.

The shots have enough details and sharpness, but an equivalent wasn't the case with wide-angle photos. they need softer and minimal details. The noise is additionally noticeable and therefore the colours appeared to be washed out. After a couple of attempts, I did get a couple of usable shots.

It did manage to require attractive close-up shots. i used to be pleased with colour, detail, white balance, exposure, and sharpness. The X7 Max managed to supply selfie and portrait shots with natural skin tone, sufficient details, and sharpness. The exposure was totally on point.

The low light images clothed to be pretty soft with little to no detail, but they're usable. The noise is visible once you take photos using the regular camera. The night mode retained colours quite well and offered brighter shots with minimal noise.

Realme X7 Max: do you have to buy it?

The Realme X7 Max may be a reliable performer and users can purchase it if solid performance is what they're after. The mid-range phone has an above-average rear camera setup and an honest display also . However, the build quality isn't that great.

Alternatively, you'll buy the Realme X7 Pro smartphone for better camera performance and build quality. the overall performance of both the phones is analogous and therefore the devices are currently available at an equivalent price. you'll also await phones like OnePlus Nord CE and Poco F3 GT as these will soon launch in India.
