DOTA 2 is famous for its tournaments that give out amazing prizes. No half-hearted prizes reach billions of rupiah in one win. Not to mention the increasing number of tournaments and the increasing enthusiasm of the players every year, making the prizes given even bigger.
In 2022 alone, the DOTA 2 International tournament, which is the highest tournament, has issued a prize fund of around $36.6 million US dollars or around 500 billion rupiah. Even though it doesn’t include taxes, it’s a fantastic amount considering it’s just a game.
Although the growth of this game prize is not as high as in previous years, the prizes given have increased significantly every year. Starting from 2011, when Valve held The International 1 tournament with a prize pool of $1.6 million dollars until 2022 with a tournament prize pool of $36.6 million dollars.
Of the $36.6 million dollars, there were several tournaments in 2022 around the world, including The International with $21 million in prizes, the Shanghai, Manila and Boston Majors with $3 million dollars in prizes and various other types of tournaments outside of Valve.
There are around $700,000 in prizes donated by major tournaments in China, such as the Mars TV League and Professional Top League, then $500,000 from the Moscow Epicenter Tournament and the annual Starladder and I-League series which contribute $300,000 each.
In 2022, the total prize pool touched $5.5 million dollars which definitely indicates there will be an increase in this year’s prize pool from all DOTA 2 tournaments. In addition, there is also the DOTA 2 Asia Championship to be held in shanghai this year, of course the prize given will increase.
It is time for us to change our mindset regarding E-Sport competitions in the world, because it is proven that E-sport is definitely feasible and capable of being a very promising source of income compared to other jobs.
Especially when you have a hidden talent that is adept at playing games that can compete with other people, it will certainly be very helpful to start your career as a professional E-Sport player. Especially for the DOTA 2 division where the prizes are very promising.
