Garena has just announced a new tournament entitled “Free Fire Continental Series 2022” (FFCS). This tournament will be a series of three international online competitions that will take place simultaneously in the Americas, Asia, and EMEA.
The Free Fire Continental Series 2022 will replace the Free Fire World Series 2022 which was supposed to take place in Brazil this year. However, the event has been canceled due to the global lockdown.
Format and other details in Free Fire Continental Series 2022
The FFCS will take place over six matches across the Battle Royale maps of Bermuda, Purgatory and Kalahari. This 2022 FFCS Tournament has a prize pool of $300k for each regional tournament.
The tournament will start simultaneously in all three regions on November 21. The Free Fire Continental Series 2022 final will take place on November 28-29.
Players from the Brazilian and Latin American regions will participate in the Americas Series. Players from Europe, Russia, Middle East and North Africa will compete in EMEA, and players from Chinese Taipei, India, Indonesia, Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines and Vietnam will participate in the Asia series.
Free Fire Continental Series 2022 follows in the footsteps of the Free Fire World Series which took place last year. The 2022 Free Fire World Series final was held in Brazil and gave birth to the Brazilian team Corinthians as the winner.
In that edition, The Corinthians did get a lot of attention, even its popularity was said to surpass other big international teams such as Team Liquid. In addition, FFWS 2022 also attracted a lot of attention by capturing more than one million viewers.
The Free Fire World Series 2022 edition could have been much bigger than last year’s edition, but the tournament was eventually canceled due to the global lockdown. The Free Fire Continental Series 2022 was then introduced to replace the Free Fire World Series 2022.
This tournament is one of Garena’s efforts to continue interacting with her fan base during difficult times like these. After many smaller regional tournaments have taken place since March, it looks like Garena is now trying to get to the bigger ones.
