The Live Captions could soon arrive on Android 10. Here are all the news.
One of the most eagerly awaited innovations of Android 10 is definitely the Live Captions. It is a feature that generates subtitles in real time by applying them to different media files, whether they are videos or voice notes.
But when will the Live Captions debut? According to the latest rumors, the real-time subtitles could be launched along with the new Google Pixels 4. The XDA guys, in fact, managed to install the APK file on the system app called Device Personalization Services on a Pixel 2 XL which is used to adjust different features of the Pixel Launcher.
Once the app is installed, the Live Captions have appeared on the device, even if at the moment there are only three possible options: choice of language (among other things, only English), possibility of hiding swear words and the possibility of activating or disable Subtitles in real time directly from the volume panel.
As far as the XDA guys could see, Live Captions are not available for audio phone calls and video calls. Nevertheless, the real-time transcription seemed quite satisfactory, with a very minimal margin of error.
