Series Netflix which was just released last month, to be precise on October 8, 2022, this is indeed a hot topic among series connoisseurs. The reason is, the story raised in this documentary series is based on a true story that happened in Burari, India in 2022. At that time, the whole of India was in an uproar with the discovery of 11 bodies hanging like the roots of a banyan tree hanging from its branches.
Worse yet, the eleven bodies turned out to be one big family consisting of 3 generations, from grandmother (the eldest), children and in-laws, to their grandchildren who are still children. The tragedy then raises many questions, how did the perpetrators hang the ten family members and what was the motive? Even the police who handled the case seemed unable to conclude the answer unless they conducted a thorough investigation.
This case became more widespread after various media came to try to cover the actual situation at the scene. All Indians also came to the location, they gathered in various corners, trying to see what really happened. The sheer popularity of the case has also sparked controversy, causing the investigation to proceed more slowly.
All the things found during the investigation did not come to light, but on the contrary, various findings gave rise to new possibilities. The case is indeed very unique, if you want to call it a suicide case, then why did the whole family have their mouths gagged with their hands tied? After all, most of the members of the family were educated people which seemed impossible for them to commit suicide for no apparent reason.
Okay, let’s say they were killed by someone, but who can kill 11 people without leaving a trace? Even if one could, it would require at least more than 13 people to do it, and if it did happen, then what was the motive? All these questions keep popping up without anyone being able to answer them.
Throughout the storyline, House of Secrets: The Burari Death
gives his own perspective on the gruesome case. I really like how the storyline of this film goes, all the mysteries are not immediately revealed in one moment, making the audience confused about the various possibilities that could happen. That’s the factor that makes this series still tense from beginning to end, because no matter how hard you think about it, the resolution of the case still makes you mind blowing.
This series also managed to present a fairly complex investigation process, starting from the perspective of the police, the investigative team, the doctor in charge of carrying out the autopsy, to the perspective of the media that caused controversy. All of these things are displayed in full which makes the audience feel as if they have the freedom to believe which perspective makes the most sense.
The horror atmosphere displayed in this series is also quite effective, especially in the second episode which explains that the possible culprit is the spirit of his late father who died several years earlier. Because the discussion is related to magical things, back sound and
