2007 was a year that may not be forgotten with the launch of several successful 2007 games, such as Mass Effect, Uncharted, The Witcher, Bioshcok, and many more.
Well, on this occasion we will discuss the 2022 game that stood out and what impact it has had in the ten years since its release.
1. Assassin’s Creed
We still remember the first Assassin’s Creed trailer, which featured a mysterious “hooded” assassin walking through a crowd of people, jumping on an unaware criminal, and stabbing him with a hidden knife.
These elements are never absent for the next series, but interestingly at that time everything looked “fresh” and new. With different time period settings and crowd-based stealth mechanics, Assassin’s Creed exudes an innovative design philosophy that is different from the typical adventure game.
At that time many people thought of Assassin’s Creed as just a game set in a certain time period, but when the game was first released, it was revealed that there is actually a modern component to the narrative!
2. Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune
As the first-party PlayStation developer to make the transition to the PlayStation 3, Naughty Dog abandoned the cartoon aesthetic of the Jak and Daxter series on PS2 for a new, richer-looking franchise for third-generation Sony game consoles.
Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune is an adventure game inspired by Tomb Raider, in which players will try to collect weapons, explore, and solve puzzles in one cinematic adventure.
While all of those elements have rarely been the same in the series’ 10-year history, Uncharted is arguably the best Sony-exclusive series of games of the last decade.
3. Mass Effect
2022 has been a rocky year for the Mass Effect franchise, with the launch of its last installment, the ill-fated Andromeda becoming the laughing stock of the gaming community.
Actually the goal of developing Andromeda was to find unique ideas to get inspiration from the first game. That’s why the game is now more “wow” than ever and it’s important to look back on what the first series did ten years ago.
To provide the expansive world of the Mass Effect universe, BioWare created a world full of characters and lots of detail. The in-game Codex feature serves as an in-game encyclopedia that allows players to learn everything about planets and species.
The point is that this is a fun sci-fi adventure game, where you will play as Commander Shepard with the ability to make decisions that can later affect the storyline.
This commitment to giving players the freedom to “choose” is perhaps the most enduring legacy of Mass Effect for many other story based RPGs.
For BioWare itself, this is a new era of cinematic RPG. The dynamic camera angles and facial details of the characters presented at that time were of a high level of quality that deserves thumbs up!
4. Rock Band
In 2007, the peripheral-based rhythm game began to experience great success in the western region, thanks to the legendary game Guitar Hero developed by game developer Harmonix.
The genre was initially more popular in Japan, but Harmonix’s work allowed it to reach a wider market reach. Guitar Hero may indeed have achieved success, but actually Rock Band was the beginning of that success.
Rock Band feels like a collection of simple, established ideas. Based on the premise, there’s no denying that this game is very engaging. Of course, there is a certain satisfaction when we seem to be placed as players in a rock band. Agree?
In this game you will experience like being in a live band, playing together in perfect synchronization.
Unfortunately, the rhythm game phenomenon finally ended and the popularity of this genre of games began to decline not long after the third series was released in 2010.
5 years after that, Rock Band 4 was finally launched and received a warm welcome from the gaming community, thanks to Harmonix’s full support by continuing to release new songs in DLC form to this day.
5. Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
When it launched in 2007, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was the first world war 2 FPS game that we played and survived to this day.
Its campaign mode still presents some of its most memorable moments. If you still remember the initial scene shows a coup in a Middle Eastern country which ends with an execution which marks the beginning of the conflict of the game.
Modern Warfare also penetrated into the multiplayer world, where game developers introduced the “Creat a Class” mechanism which is now standard in multiplayer FPS games.
6. The Witcher
Among the big developers who brought up several game titles such as Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, and Mass Effect, there is a small studio in Poland that is developing an ambitious RPG project adapted from the popular book series in the country.
Developers started to create a dark role-playing adventure called The Witcher.
Instead of giving players the role of a hero or villain, CD Projekt Red instead puts players with gray characters (not good characters, but not bad characters) whose impact can lead to something unexpected.
Well, there really isn’t an element of good vs. evil in The Witcher. Sometimes the “right” decision can be fatal. You adventure in the game world as a Witcher killer or the famous monster slayer, namely Geralt of Rivia.
As a Witcher too, Geralt should not interfere in the affairs of humans, elves, or dwarves. But for those of you who have played The Witcher game, surely you know that Geralt has a unique personality, so it’s only natural that many fans like him.
But more importantly, The Witcher has become CD Projekt Red’s foundation to realize their vision and hopes further and further. And now The Witcher has become the benchmark for other game developers to provide the best RPG experience.
7. Bioshock
Bioshock was developed by a developer called Irrational Games, previously known for creating the classic Action RPG, System Shock 2.
Irrational Games which is a subsidiary of Take-Two Interactive and 2K Games is developing Bioshock which was released in August 2007.
Bioshock is an FPS game with RPG and stealth elements, similar to System Shock 2. In this game you will play as Jack, where you will collect various types of weapons and abilities using serums called plasmids.
8. Hello 3
If Halo 2 sparked the existence of Xbox Live, Halo 3 made the Microsoft service a necessity. This third series of games developed by Bungie has an extraordinary design and is still one of the best multiplayer titles ever produced.
Halo 3 “takes” everything that made its predecessor multiplayer so good and expands on it in every way. This game is able to attract millions of players and create a more vibrant multiplayer community with many interesting features.
