As 2022 draws to a close, it’s undeniable that it’s been one of the best years the game has ever seen. How come? Huge selection of amazing 2022 game titles to play on all platforms.

However, of the many 2022 game titles that were released, not a few failed or did not match the company’s expectations. Whether it’s because of poor PR (public relations), causing controversy, or indeed the game is less attractive in the eyes of gamers.

1. Destiny 2

It seems Bungie will never be able to “rest” in peace when it comes to the Destiny franchise. Two days after Destiny 2 launched, many players were disappointed with the Shaders system that was previously free, now paid for and only used once.

Recently there have also been bigger complaints surrounding the Loot Box called Bright Engram. After reaching the max level, you can get a Bright Engram from filling the XP bar.

Bright Engram can help players to get better armor or weapons. Sounds like a great mechanism, until some gamers find out that Bungie has reduced the Bright Engram rate that is gained from playing progress.

A small decision that has fatal consequences and can make people decide to stop playing this game.

2. For Honor

Released earlier this year, For Honor is predicted to be one of the 2022 games that will hit the market. This game developed by Ubisoft features Knights, Vikings and Samurai killing each other on the battlefield.

It has cool gameplay, but unfortunately this game has to stumble on server problems. For some reason, Ubisoft has decided to use a peer to peer network method which ultimately makes online matches impossible to do.

Many players complain of lag, frequent disconnections from the server, and some even can’t connect at all.

In mid-2022, Ubisoft finally officially announced that they would be presenting a dedicated server next year.

Well, although it can be said that it’s late because maybe this game has lost its hype, but for For Honor fans of course this is good news.

3. Star Wars BattleFront 2

And this is one of the 2022 games that became the biggest controversy in the history of the game industry. Electronic Arts has turned a $60 game into a pay-to-win game!

If you want to have a character with good stats, please reach out and buy some Loot Crates. What might be considered outrageous is that players are required to spend tens to hundreds of hours to unlock certain content in Battlefront 2.

The number of complaints at launch, finally made EA decide to remove microtransactions in Battlefront 2.

Not only were gamers furious, Hawaii Governor Chris Lee also criticized the game by labeling Battlefront 2 as a “Star Wars-themed online casino, designed to lure kids into spending money.”

4. Mass Effect: Andromeda

The game that was supposed to be the start of a new chapter in the world of Mass Effect had to end in complete failure to live up to those expectations. Some fans are also still disappointed with the ending of Mass Effect 3 (even after getting the patch).

Apart from that Mass Effect: Andromeda also had a lot of bugs and other technical issues at launch (including facial animation).

5. Marvel vs Capcom: Infinity

When we talk about hype fighting games, most people agree that it is the Marvel vs Capcom series.

Unlike most of the games on this list where the hype has suddenly taken a 180-degree turn or hasn’t built up well from the start.

The issue of Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite already started when this game was first announced, you know! Many fans are wondering and disappointed by the absence of the X-Men.

Apart from that there are only six new playable characters, and the rest are in the form of DLC. The story mode is bland, the arcade mode has no ending, and the overall presentation is too ugly to look at.

6. No Man’s Sky

FPS game fans must have known that this game was disappointing and did not live up to expectations. No Man’s Sky is rumored to have a real time system that allows players to meet in one place although this is very unlikely.

However, after an experiment was carried out by a game streamer on YouTube, it was just a lie, a streaming player planned to meet other players on the same planet.

Instead of meeting and chatting with each other, they didn’t find any other players coming, in other words, this real time feature didn’t really exist. Besides that, there are still many bugs that can be found in this game.

And although the number of planets is very large reaching 18 quitillion (equivalent to 18,000,000,000,000,000,000,000) the planets are not much difference. Only the colors and resources are different.
