2022 was the most amazing year for video games. Most game titles this year were meant to come out early. Many games that were supposed to be released in 2022, ended up being delayed and released in 2022.
Now 2022 is just around the corner and there are several 2022 games slated for release in the first and second quarters that may have the potential to be delayed. Anything? Let’s see the list.
1. Anthem
Yes, there’s no way that Anthem will be released in 2022. We think maybe the last trailer for this game will be showcased at the 2022 E3 event, before finally releasing it in 2022.
This is BioWare’s big project after the failure of Mass Effect: Andromeda, complete with drama. We’re not surprised if EA will delay this game after all the bad things that happened to the company based in Redwood City, California, United States in 2022.
Anthem is an action role-playing game that uses an open world environment setting, where you will take on the role of a Freelancer wearing special, customizable outfits called Javelins.
This outfit can be customized to have a variety of unique weapons and is capable of granting the user superhuman abilities.
At the E3 2022 event, there were two Javelins where the first was a Ranger which had a balanced ability, while the Colossus was a larger armored Javelin suited to the role of a tank.
2. Darksiders 3
THQ Nordic definitely wants Darksiders to be successful. As we all know, the Darksiders series has a solid reputation, but it’s not quite as high as they’d like it to be. So this one will be one of the projects that is expected to hit the market.
Well, to make this happen, maybe the developers need more time so that the launch can be as smooth as they expect.
Darksiders III is an action adventure game. You will control Fury, one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse in third person.
3. Days Gone
The future of the Days Gone game developed by SIE Bend Studio feels like it is in a “wildcard” position.
Currently, Days Gone is in the development stage, but we see that there is no significant progress, considering that their last game was released in 2011 or almost six years ago.
There is no detailed information regarding the release date of Days Gone. This is a huge project and it may seem like the developers are still not ready to bring it into the 2022 game list release.
Days Gone is an action adventure survival horror game that takes a post-apocalyptic open world setting from a third person perspective.
You will control the main character Deacon St. John and the game take place two years after a catastrophe that nearly killed almost all of humanity and turned millions more into “Freakers”, brainless zombie-like creatures who have the ability to thrive quickly.
4. Final Fantasy VII Remake
This remake of one of the most popular series from the Final Fantasy franchise will likely not make it into the 2022 game lineup. You can even see the many memes that are currently circulating.
It would be a miracle if the Final Fantasy VII remake, which was first announced in 2022, could be released before 2022. Agree?
5. Kingdom Hearts III
While the 2022 release of Final Fantasy VII remake was like a dream, Kingdom Hearts III might feel a little more plausible.
The gameplay that we can see through all the trailers does look more mature and this game uses the Unreal Engine. Even so, this is a Kingdom Hearts game directed by Tetsuya Nomura, which is known for its complicated release date issue.
Well, we’ll see! Hopefully our predictions are wrong.
6. Metro Exodus
Hmm… for this Metro Exodus game, maybe it’s better if you look back at the footage from the E3 2022 event and tell us if maybe this game will be ready in a year or less?
We think it’s kind of impossible! This game looks like a big project that has a beautiful and stunning look!
And interestingly, this game was developed by a smaller team than most existing AAA games and it’s clear that a “mini” team usually takes more time to get this game ready to launch.
Metro Exodus is an FPS game with elements of survival horror and stealth. Set in the post-apocalyptic wilderness of the former Russian federation, you must overcome new dangers and engage in battle against mutated creatures.
Best of all, the game has a dynamic weather system, a day cycle, and an environment that changes with the seasons and the story progresses (all year round).
7. Psychonauts 2
And here comes the Double Fine game developer crowdfunding project. We know the company may have learned a lot from Kickstarter, but this is still the most volatile area of game development.
Psychonaut 2 did get funding and is currently targeted for release in the third quarter of 2022, but for now does anyone know what will happen, what additional money could come in and how it could change things?
8. Shenmue III
Another crowdfunding project, and surprisingly it was announced at E3! Shenmue is a series that has been through a lot and Shenmue III is going to be a project that continues that history.
We’ve already seen a delay or two and so as not to lose the hype, the recently published trailer shows one of the facial animation features.
The game will probably be fine at launch, but we’re not at all surprised that Shenmue III won’t be on the list of upcoming 2022 games.
9. Skull and Bones
Skull and Bones is a game that fully carries aspects like Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, where naval battles will be the focus.
This is a very big ambitious project and one that is sure to face a lot of challenges, such as how difficult it is for the developers to answer the question of whether the game will have a campaign mode or not.
There’s clearly a lot of work to be done and the 2022 release target might be one of its biggest ambitions and Ubisoft has to be careful with this one to make sure the game succeeds and doesn’t end up like “the next” For Honor.
10. Ghost of Tsushima
As a reminder, this list that Duniaku.net made is purely for entertainment and prediction purposes only. And the last game that is likely to be delayed launch is Ghost of Tsushima.
Sony has managed to take the time and the right moment when introducing this one game, probably because they are also worried about when this game will be ready.
