The Last of Us Part II got its first major update this week, developer Naughty Dog, adding a bunch of new visual and audio effects modifiers, optional cheat codes, and two new difficulty settings.
The update will be available to all players for free on August 13th, and it will add many much-needed features for players.
Most of the updates are a new set of visual and audio effects. There is also a cheat code that will make The Last of Us Part II a less stressful game.
For visuals and audio, there are at least 20 filters that you can add, including basic filters like cool and warm or very intense ones like “blood” red and “fire” orange.
As for the cheats, all the standard options are there. You can activate unlimited ammo, infinite crafting, and one-shot cheats that let you defeat enemies with just one bullet.
But there are some other really interesting things like the ability to slow down time by up to 25 percent the speed at which you aim and “mirror the world”.
Finally, a new difficulty setting. This update is not two separate options, but one mode with custom settings. This mode is called “grounded”, and it is the more grueling but simpler mode of survival horror games. In ground mode, players will lose access to HUD elements such as ammo count, and limited resource settings.
There is also permadeath, a setting option that is in ground mode. In permadeath mode, there are settings you can tweak, such as resetting the entire game back to the start of the action when you die or restarting the entire game.
Naughty Dog says there will be two new trophies added in The Last of Us Part II. One trophy for completing the game in ground mode and another trophy for the version when permadeath is activated.
