How to Fix PUBG Freeze Screen on PC
Before starting to practice the steps to fix the freeze screen problem, make sure the computer you are using meets the minimum system requirements for playing PUBG.

Method 1: Install the Latest Patch
PUBG continues to release additional patches to fix some bugs. So, you can install a new patch to keep the game running up to date on the Patch Notes page.
Method 2: Update Graphic Driver
If you use an outdated or corrupted graphics driver, the game may freeze. To enjoy the game comfortably, you need to update the graphics driver.
Maybe that will solve your problem, especially if you can’t remember the last time you updated your drivers.
There are two main options one can take to update the graphics driver, manually or automatically.
For the manual option, you have to go to the official website, find the correct driver, and download it manually.
After downloading the driver, double-click on the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions to install the driver.
However, if you don’t have the time, patience, or computer skills to update drivers manually, you can do it automatically with Driver Easy.
Download the Driver Easy application, install as usual. If so, click scan now. The software will then scan the computer and detect any outdated or missing drivers.
Method 3: Disable Overclocking
If you use MSI Afterburner or some other GPU tweaking program, you won’t be able to play the game smoothly.
Game engines don’t really support overclocked cards. And overclocking can cause game instability leading to game crashes. So to fix it, you need to disable it.
It’s also important to remove all overlays, Steam, Discord, or whatever overlays you’re using as they often cause some issues like freezes.
Method 4: Change Power Options
Windows 10 offers a number of power plans including the new one Ultimate Performance for you to switch.
Ultimate Performance lets you take full advantage of your computer’s potential. That can help solve the freeze problem in the PUBG game.
Here’s how to activate this plan:
- Press the Windows logo key and R at the same time on the keyboard.
- Type powercfg.cpl in the box and press Enter.
- Under the Hide additional plans section, check Ultimate Performance.

If you don’t find the option Ultimate Performance, here’s what you need to do:
- In the Search box, type cmd, click the result.

After successfully adding the Ultimate Performance plan, go to settings (previous step) to activate it.
Method 5: Delete Temp Files
If your computer doesn’t have enough space to store temp files, a freeze will occur. So, you need to remove it by following these steps:
- Press the Windows logo key and R at the same time on the keyboard to open the Run box.
- Type %temp% and press Enter.
- Select all files in the folder and delete them.
- After that, relaunch PUBG and hopefully the freeze issue is resolved.
If the freeze problem persists, it’s time to check if you have corrupt, malfunctioning, and missing Windows software files, which will be causing performance issues.
To check this, try using Reimage, which will automatically find, reinstall corrupted files, and fix system software problems.
It will also help improve performance, stop computer freezes and system crashes and improve overall PC stability.

- Download and install Reimage here. You may need to activate a VPN to be able to access these pages.

- When finished, click START REPAIR to start the repair process.
Method 6: Turn off VSync
When VSync is enabled, the game being played may be less responsive. So you can turn it off to improve game performance. For example if you are using NVIDIA graphics you can do the following:
- Right-click on an empty space on the desktop and select NVIDIA Control Panel.
- In the left pane, select Manage 3D settings.
- Under the Global Settings tab, select Vertical sync and select turn it off.
- After applying the changes, launch the game and test if it solves the freeze issue.
