Valve got into the handheld gaming business. The rumors are true and Steam Deck is coming this year. it’s a handheld device that can play any game in your Steam library.

Steam Deck is touted as a new rival to Nintendo Switch. But Valve rejected this statement because some of the Deck’s features were inspired by Nintendo’s Hybrid Console.

When is the Steam Deck Release Date?
Steam Decks will start shipping in December 2022. But that doesn’t mean if you order them you will receive them this year.
It’s because the Steam Deck site says “expected order availability” in Q2 2022 for each version of the Deck in the UK and US.
It’s possible that Valve has received more orders for the higher-spec Deck it was originally targeted for and has now adjusted production priorities.
You can order pre-order tickets of the three models provided by paying 5 Dollars. For those who have ordered tickets, later when the unit is ready to ship, it will be confirmed again whether you want to continue the transaction.

The price of the Steam Deck depends on the version you want. There are three different versions based on storage size.
- 399 dollars or Rp. 5.8 million for the 64GB version
- 529 dollars or Rp. 5.8 million for the 256GB version
- 649 dollars or Rp.7.6 million for the 512GB version
The more expensive versions of the Steam Deck feature faster NVMe SSD storage. While the cheaper one has 64GB of eMMC (embedded multi-media card) storage.
All three versions can support increased storage space with an additional MicroSD card slot.
Currently Steam Decks can be ordered if you make a 5 dollar deposit. However, the Steam servers were immediately overwhelmed when loading the online reservation page.
Customers who try to order Steam Decks are faced with time limits and error messages. Some of them were told that orders might be delayed due to the large number of purchases in the last few hours.
The error message says the Steam account was created too recently to order the Steam Deck. Even though their Steam account is actually years old.
Can I Only Play Games on Steam?

Valve itself strongly rejects the idea of a monopoly and closed market as it does on consoles and mobile.
For this reason, Steam Deck can be run for any game from Steam or outside such as Epic Games, EA Play and so on.
This means that you can play Genshin Impact or Fortnite that is not on Steam. You can also play emulator games.
Maybe the only problem is Steam OS which is the default of this console. It is based on Linux, the possibility of compatibility issues will occur later.
Although Steam has a proton feature that is able to change Windows games running on Linux. But other store distributors have not implemented the same thing.
Even so, Valve allows users to change the OS from the Steam Deck at any time and does not limit it.
