ExpressVPN has thousands of servers around the world. Here’s a guide on how to make sure you’re always connecting to the best server location for your unique situation.
How to pick the best VPN server location for you
The Smart Location feature in the app recommends the optimal location for your device based on distance, latency, and download speed.
Connecting to Smart Location is encouraged in these three cases:
1-If your top priority is getting a secure, fast, and private connection.
2-If you’re in a country with heavy internet censorship, and want to access websites and apps such as Facebook, Google, and Skype.
3-If you don’t really care where the server is, as long as it works well.
If you’re using the Windows, Mac, Android, or iOS app for the first time, click or tap the On Button to connect to Smart Location. If you’ve previously connected to a different server location, you can switch to Smart Location by selecting the box marked “Smart Location.”
On the ExpressVPN app for Linux, enter “expressvpn connect smart”
On the ExpressVPN app for routers, you are connected to Smart Location by default.
To access content like TV shows, movies, games, sports, or live events from a certain country,connect to a server location in that country.
To do this, click or tap the ellipsis.Here, you can browse the “Recommended” and “All Locations” tabs.
If you’ve previously added server locations to your Favorites, you will also see a “Favorites”
Under the “Recommended” tab, you will see your Smart Location, locations you’ve recently connected to, and other recommended locations. Recommended locations are based on your geographic location, combined with anonymous data from connection success rates and speed.
You can also quickly connect to the location that you used most recently by selecting either of the locations marked “Recent Location.”The “All Locations” tab lets you browse through all of ExpressVPN’s server locations, sorted by region.
You can also expand countries with multiple server locations and choose a specific server
location within that country.Or simply select the country, and you’ll automatically be connected to the optimal server location for you.
Use the search bar to find the server location of your choice.
