Samsung is distributing the update of Android 9 Pie to the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 + in Brazil, according to several user reports. In addition to the novelties brought by Google, we have the One UI interface: It is made for larger screens, with buttons and tabs at the bottom for ease of use; And a night mode (Dark mode) throughout the system.
Samsung expands list of mobile phones that will receive Android 9 Pie
Samsung Galaxy S10, S10 + and S10E are homologated by Anatel with up to 4,000 mAh
The update of the Galaxy S9 and S9 + requires a download of 1,751.34 MB. It also includes the Google security patch for January. However, Samsung warns that some applications need to be updated manually — such as calculator, the Samsung Internet browser, and Samsung Pay — after installation.
One UI is thought for large screens and has dark mode
The highlight is for the One UI interface. It has three main aspects, and one of them is thought especially for large screens: Buttons and tabs are at the bottom, and the lists start from the half of the screen, to facilitate access with the thumb.
Secondly, there is a nightly mode throughout the system that enhances the comfort to the eyes and can help to save battery. It is present in pre-installed menus and apps such as messages and email.
Finally, we have the “focus blocks” that reduce the amount of information displayed to help the user. For example, when you enter a phone number on the dial pad, options are displayed to create a contact or initiate a video call; While the non-typing options disappear.
Galaxy S9 and S9 + receive news from Android Pie
Samsung mentions other news: message notifications will have thumbnail images; You can reply to messages directly in the notification panel; The Settings menu has been reorganized; and Always On Display has won new watch styles, including a calendar with its schedule.
In addition, the screen will be activated automatically when you pick up the Galaxy S9 or S9 +; 11.0 Unicode emojis will be available throughout the system; and Heif images that occupy less space than traditional JPEG are supported. The official list of changes follows at the end of the post.
The Galaxy S9 and S9 + have been updated since December. In the last week, they received the Android Pie in Brazil, Canada, Mexico and the United Arab Emirates. The Galaxy Note 9 has also been contemed in some countries. The next list are the Galaxy Note 8, Galaxy S8 and S8 +.
